CHARACTER101 is dedicated to improving the lives of Orphans, Special Needs Children and Unwed Mothers in Arusha, Tanzania by providing scholarships, wheelchairs, walkers, games, educational supplies, food, and clothing. Through these efforts instilling the Importance of Character - Citizenship, Caring, Fairness, Trustworthiness, Respect and Responsibility.
About CHARACTER101
CHARACTER101 is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization focused on children's education and welfare in Arusha, Tanzania. We partner with Shalom Centre Orphanage and Safe Home for Children with Disabilities, Inclusive.
For Shalom we provide scholarships, funds for the food budget and "Christmas in a Backpack".
For the SHCD we fund their building rent and assist with staff salaries. We also provide wheelchairs, walkers, therapy tools and games for the Special Needs children.
Our mission includes providing for essential needs for these children.

Educational Support
C101 provides operating funds ($500 monthly) toward building rent and staff salaries to our partner "Safe Home for Children with Disabilities". Scholarships and educational supplies are provided to Shalom Centre Orphanage annually.
Feeding Program
Providing nutritious meals for the children of Shalom Centre Orphanage is essential to their success. The food budget is $3000 a quarter. This includes shopping in the local markets.


"Christmas in a Backpack" always includes age specific clothing for each child.
In 2015 "Christmas in a Backpack" was birthed. The cause was to help meet the needs of each child at Shalom Centre Orphanage. Each backpack includes clothing and essential items. Also, shoe shopping for each child; 107 school shoes in 2025!
Community
Engagement
We always look for ways to partner with local businesses. For Shalom we buy bedding, toiletries, school shoes, computers and bicycles. We also look to local shops to provide for the physical tools for Special Needs children.
